Found a lone yellow maple leaf that managed to cling on by not being to close to the stream pouring into the falls at Giant’s Bathtub. Matthiessen State Park in Illinois.

I enjoy photography of all kinds. If it was how I supported my family financially, it would be a dream come true.

Excellent!! Nice shot/comp Adam and like the touch with the leaf. Wife and I are thinking about heading out to Matthiessen Friday if she can get day off. Do ya think that leaf might still be there or should I bring my own … LOL :)!

  • LOL OH, I’m sure it will still be there. I also have some great swampland that I would like to sell you too LOL. Thanks for the great compliment. If you guys go, bring an extra pair of socks and extra pair of shoes. Seriously, it will be muddy by Cascade Falls, which is the first falls by the entrance and if you go to the other end where this shot was taken you will be walking in ankle high water most of the time. NO kidding, this side is mostly a trail of water. Good luck and try not to slip on your ass.

Perfect!!!! You couldn’t have placed the leaf as good as nature has done!! Lovely autumnul shot! ;o)

  • Thanks so much Krys. This was actually sitting there naturally and I was glad it was. I will admit, I have been known to place a leaf in spots like this, but this time nature cooperated. Appreciate your taking the time to comment and glad to see you again.

Aww lonely lil’ leaf… nice shot Adam. This really is a lovely looking place and the water motion looks great :o)

  • This is a great summer spot in my opinion. What you do is put on an old pair of gym shoes and wear shorts and just walk through the cool water throughout most of the park. Many areas in this part of the canyon are paths of water from the creek that flows through it. Lake Falls at the end has to be the most beautiful waterfall in Illinois.
