Adam's Photographer of the Day (45) is phatpuppy by Adam Bykowski

Posted on April 22, 2011

Today’s photographer of the day is phatpuppy from the U.S.

Being that as of this writing it is Good Friday, I searched for an image that would tell the story and move me. The image at the top of the page did exactly that. Although it is fairly graphic, I believe it was done tastefully and done well. When I do these photographer of the day series each year, I try to find a meaningful image to portray Jesus’ dying on the cross for our sins when I make it the choice for Good Friday. Being that this is a very holy and significant day in Christianity, I chose images of hers that all relate to a religious theme. You can find other types of images in her portfolio that have other themes, many of which are full of a wonderful fantasy style.

I especially like the angel image below. Such a special, soft glow and beautiful expression on the angel’s face. I know that these images are a mix of photography and digital manipulation, but I feel they deserve photographer of the day status as they are done so well and are so beautiful. Aptly named Purity, this image emanates that sentiment completely.

Another touching image in more ways than one, is her Here I am Lord image. Look at the wonderful pose with hands folded in prayer, but even more so, read the wonderful poetry in the description. She has written her own prayer to the Lord which has touched me and I find written very well and in a meaningful manner. Phatpuppy has shown us the wonder of the good and spiritual and how great it can be. How wonderful it is to see such images, and done so artfully.

She deserves recognition on this day and for those of you touched by any of these images, to write her some equally beautiful comments. You will find many more, very cool works and wonderful images in her portfolio that I can almost guarantee you will fall in love with.

Thank you phatpuppy, for your wonderful images. I will remember many of them in my memories for a long, long time.

    I don’t know what to say…
You honored in me in such a beautiful way… and you just can’t know how much it means to me to have someone tell me that my religious themed pieces mean something to them.
Often times, they are overlooked…and to be honest – my “Pieta” piece has a lot of mistakes that I see now that I missed way back when – yet it is still special to me… everyone got together and worked on this is a beautiful collaborative spirit.

I hope to continue to create more works which inspire… however I ask for only one thing in return…
    for prayers. :)
I truly believe we can never have enough of those…
I promise to return the favor.

Have a blessed Good Friday and very Holy Easter.

I’m leaving in a little while for Veneration of the Cross at church where by 9 and 11 year olds are altar servers.

    Pax et Bonum,

    Claudia

  • Adam Bykowski:

Glad you were able to see this today and appreciate your quick response. I have been doing this type of thing everyday during Lent and this is my 4th year I have been doing this. The first year on Shutterpoint and the past three here on RB. I get such a kick out of people being blown away by my showcasing of their work. I get a lot of “made my day” type comments. I am not part of RB staff or anything, it is just my deed for Lent. I am so glad I picked you for my Good Friday pick as I wanted someone who would appreciate the reason I chose Jesus and other holy subjects for this important day. Your reply was much more than I expected. The Lord works in mysterious ways.
What does the bible say, “when you do good for someone, it comes back to you threefold.”
    Have a great Easter.
