The Whirlpool
A whirlpool caught in a long exposure in a magical place called Illinois Canyon in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois.
Camera: Canon 5D
Lens: Canon 24-70mm
Filter: Heliopan thin Polarizing filter
Aperture: f18
Exposure: 30 seconds
Not the type of image I could bracket to capture exactly the same and layer the two together. What I did is save the darker version of this and worked in Curves in Photoshop and lightened it up. Then opened both images up and layered them and removed the light areas by darkening with the eraser/brush tool at about 35% by removing the lighter layer until she looked pretty.

Excellent work Adam. Sounds like you put quite a lot of effort into post processing. Nice to have those skills and it was well worth it. The results are excellent.

Not really. I just did a lousy, long winded job of explaining it. It probably only took me about 15 minutes to finish it in Photoshop

Already a fan of your water photography, I find this an image of beauty and fascination. I think you have done well in presenting a complex scene. Based on a complex (imho) scene, the photo requires more than a casual look to fully enjoy and appreciate.
