    oh that looks cold

  • Adam Bykowski replied

It was a long underwear morning. The temp was about 15°F, but there was wind. The wind brought the temperature down to pain on exposed skin. LOL

Very effective Adam. It doesn’t look particularly like ice with the red reflection, but it’s those reflections that make the shot.

  • Adam Bykowski replied

The street lights and sky colors added some unrealistic color, but that is all ice on concrete in the foreground and sides, the middle and background is frozen water on Lake Michigan.

Excellent Adam. Like the composition … from Montrose Harbor looking south, by chance? I spend a fair amount of time there during bird migration. The colors here are outstanding. Seems I’ve been seeing more of these type shots lately that include light reflected off ice and some of the effects are just great.

  • Adam Bykowski replied

Thanks for the complimets John. Always special coming from you. This location is actually Lasalle Street looking south. This was taken early yesterday morning (Sat, Jan 3rd). The wind must have been spraying water all over the rocks days before and it all froze. Made for some great reflections and the sky cooperated with some neat clouds and color.

Thanks very much Katseye. An “Ohhhhhhhh” compliment is about the same as an “Oooooooohh” and rates right next to “WOW” in my book. LOL Glad you liked it.
