Escaping the heat of the Sacramento Valley this past weekend I took the Family on a trek to the Great Outdoors 7200ft up Highway 50. It was such a joy taking the Family on our 2nd camping trip this year.
Wrights lake was small in comparison to all the other lakes I have been to but very beautiful indeed. Clear star lit skies, The smell of a burning campfire & the company of family in the wilderness is just priceless.

was the moon out?
Ben Pacificar replied
No sir the moon was not out at least not in front of me anyways. I actually shot the star trails sequence after dark and just layered it in from an earlier shot.

Awesome work Ben! What’s lighting the mountains, is it the moon or the setting sun?
Ben Pacificar replied
The setting sun lit up the mountains from an earlier shot, I just layered the star trails sequence later on that night because my original attempt failed so this image was the result from a compilation of the two.

Wow! What a piece of work! no sleep for the weary…
Ben Pacificar replied
Weary I was after this sequence, actually drunk more like it because I left the campfire at about 2245 just to do the star trails sequence and finished partying while waiting for the camera to finish up.
