LET THERE BE LIGHT
Location: The American River / Placerville California
Technique: Long Exposure
Workflow: Shutter 15 Sec
Aperture 18
70mm
ISO 50
Cokin filters – 1 ND2, 2 ND4’s, 1 ND8
Equip: Canon 5D OG
Thought id go a bit “Old School” with no HDR, Just some Gradual filters to drag the shutter. Oh,,,,and just one extra layer to add the sun rays.
My Good Friend “Edwin Escelera” helped with the title again and wrote:
Hi Ben! Thank you again for the opportunity you are giving me…the moment i saw the picture….the decending caught my eyes readily…it’s the one giving life to the spring….so I thought of “The Spring of Life”... then again I thought of the creation of God when he said “Let there be Light” then there was light…....or this can be a classic picture of “The Living Waters”... or could this be the “The Hidden Spring” ?......or “The Gift of Light” to Mother Nature…....Man…it draws a lot of idea the longer you stare at the picture…

Ben, well it worked. Love love love the sun rays, softness of the water, the tones, the lighting and comp. Well done. An instant fave.

beautiful work Ben – this is such a different side of you!
Ben Pacificar replied
I guess it is in a way. I figured id put the Cokin filters to better use (Instead of Time Lapse) and at the same time practice with my long exposures.

Ben Pacificar replied
Almost! Wish I had the funds to convert a camera to IR, Love the effect it puts out though.

I hear ya on that … but here’s a little article you might find interesting … http://rsuello.blogspot.com/2008/07/infrared-photography-with-nikon-d40.html … here’s the thing, No Conversion!!!!! If you read his article, there may be an additional step here or there … but isn’t it worth it (at about $45 US) to give it a try?? I haven’t done it yet … but plan to. May wait until next summer … getting cooler here already. Although the article talks about a D40 (I have a D40x and will use it on that camera) ... I’m sure it’ll work on anything if we follow his guidelines!!!!! Cool beans, huh???
Ben Pacificar replied
Nice to know, too bad its for a SPONK camera and not for a Canon.

Svetlana Sewell
