This image is dedicated to the Men & Women of the United States of America like “Leona” (R&B Buddy E.R. Bazors Mum) who actually stood guard at locations similar to this with binoculars contributing to the Country’s coastal defense.

My Buddy Bazors description:

“I am sure that my Mom would have appreciated that….she stood watch on a platform up in the ity bity coastal town of Fort Bragg, California. She told me about the bunkers around the bay at San Francisco…I didn’t mean to imply that she stood watch at that location. But, I am sure that many dedicated citizens like her stood watch with binoculars and coastal defence canons of some sort at this location to keep the entrance to the bay safe during the years of the war.

Everyone had a need to feel part of the defense of the country…and there were real dangers from the Japanese on the West Coast. So, since Mom (Leona) is gone now I am sure she would be happy to have you dedicate that photo to all of the citizens like her who stood watch on U.S. shores during the war to help keep everyone safe”.

    Such a cool shot!
I didn’t realize the old coastal defense bunkers were still out there…WOW!!!
My Mom used to tell me stories of standing watch with binoculars during the war…she said she never spotted anything…but it was all very exciting and scary to her since she was a young teenager…and it made them feel good for doing their part to help defend the country.

very cool shot, of this famous area…. my husband and I went up there for the first time last year. Not sure why we’d never gone before… anyway, my parents took me up there when I was a kid, but I don’t remember that. I really like this point of view, and the clouds really set this one off!

  • Ben Pacificar replied

We actually had the lighthouse in mind before driving all the way to frisco but as You can tell we didnt quite make it! Are You from the Bay area Kimberly?
