Dry Dock
Location: Mare Island Abandoned U.S. Naval Base Vallejo California
Technique: HDR (My first 3 shot HDR!)

Could not do my normal HDR sequence which consists of 16 to 23 shots because of an annoying fence blocking my view. Even when I got my aperture set up so the fence wouldnt show, the framing just wasnt how I wanted it. So I had to prop my Baby (Camera) over the fence and did Auto Bracketing instead, bummer.
Hope You all like it!

Looks great, Ben :) Have you ever compared a 3 shot with a 23 of the same subject?
Ben Pacificar replied
With this shot I had to do a bit more dodging than usual because the shadows didnt have the depth I was looking for and the highlights made the sky look YUCKY! I just hoping the Dock itself draws more attention than the sky.

Ben Pacificar
Yes I have, it almost looks the same when coming out of Photomatix but when I start working on it in CS2 there just isnt enough information there for me to do what I want with it.

Your normal HDR’s consist of 16-23 shots? Holy smokes …. What exposure value difference between them? No wonder your HDR look like noone elses do. But even this 3 shot HDR is fantastic.
Ben Pacificar replied
Some folks do question why so many? I always say why not?!

Andy Mueller
Ben, but what bracketed exposure difference do you choose for all 16-23 shots? Surely not -1 / +1? Would love to know the answer to this.
Ben Pacificar replied
Actually I only did +\- 3 for this shot but on the multiple images i move my shutter speed in increments of 2 on my dial settings.
...Ben…
Andy Mueller
Gotcha, thanks
Ben Pacificar replied
Im sure Your probably do this already Bra but do You set Your white balance manually?
...Ben…
Andy Mueller
Usually I always set my white balance manually. But come to think of it, most of my HDR images I probably had it in Auto (I was not familiar with setting it manually then). So for this shot, what did you set it to? Sunshine I presume?
Ben Pacificar replied
I set my White balance at custom using a white balance lens cap. I used to use a white card but the lens cap is a bit more convenient.
