End of the Road - HOPE in Alaska by

The tiny village of Hope is a one way destination with a small community and scattered dwellings. Hope, the towns name is so apt as there is evidence that the locals are endeavouring to make a living with the short window of opportunity during the tourist season. We enjoyed our overnight stay here and are happy we made the detour to drop in and say g’day and to find exactly what is at the end of the road!

I thought almost all roads here led nowhere except the AlaskaCanada highway, Barbara. We’re headed here to hike in two weeks; did you try the well-used trail? You’ve captured Hope at its most natural look—grey. Perfect off-center cafe and composition.

  • Unfortunately we did not get the chance to “go bush” We just stuck our heads in of an overnighter. . LOL yeah I guess most of the roads are travelled both ways up there!!
Post some shots when you get back eh

Wow, I want to go to Alaska really bad… Want to drive to Denali, but alas, it says it is 2300 miles from Seattle, and must go thru Canada. Wonder if I will need a passport these days?

  • Well we did both … we had to take our Aussie passports as you do now too I think. Go on get yourself up there. B-))

Cool capture Barbara, love that the road just stops, it must be incredibly isolated! :)

  • Glad you got into this shot Kylie.

Brilliant story in this enormous image of simple scenery … like a scene out of a “road” movie

  • LOL the place smacks of the surreal I do admit ~ Thanks, appreciated your feedback.

Ooh looks like you’re setting the scene for some quirky small town comedy Barbara. Love the look of this charming place.

  • Quirky is right on Georgie, it was just that bit different!!
