Modern freight train flashes by the now abandonded and falling into ruin train station at Steilacoom, Washington. Image captured using a Nikon D300 and Sigma 10-20mm lens. Processed using Photoshop and Silver FX pro.
Wonderful capture, Bryan.. The s/c and motion is perfect.
Thank you Carol. I have to admit that the light wasn’t bright enough (at a low iso) to stop the train so I slowed the shutter to add more blur to the action of the train instead of bumping up the iso for stop action. I was an experiment that turned out ok.
this is such a great piece, this works really well with the train in colour.
Thank you Simon. My thoughts in making the image were to show the station as static and black and white; in that it is not in action, moving forward, it is in decay with the train showing movement, color and growth or life.
Not just in this town, but all over the country. It’s a shame that our nation does not utilize the railroads like other countries still do. I would like to see a coalition to bring the rail systems back to full capacity. Put some people back to work. Get some people off the highways.

Very cool shot Brian.
Thank you Rodney. It’s really a shame that the town is letting this trainstation fall into disrepair but it does make for some good images.

Thank you Jason—I actually thought of you when I was at this shoot and hoping I could create and image that you would like.

What a great contrasting image Bryan…the SC works perfectly!! *-)
Thank you Deb, between the train station and shooting the old structures at Chambers Bay it was a retrospective kind of day.

Excellent image and Title!!
Brit……
Thanks Brit. As I get older and the joints stiffen I feel a little more like the station than the train but I’m working on that.
