Fox Sparrow Passerella iliaca in my back yard in Gig Harbor, WA. Not much to look at but their songs are a joy to listen to and when joined with the Song Sparrows it’s quite the choir.

My photographs are not always technically correct, I tend to break the rules but I do that knowing what the rules are and having a reason to do so. My photographic images are what and how I see the world around me in my minds eye—they are who I am.

    Wonderful image with super detail
    Alexa

  • Thank you Alexa, setting up feeders next to the house and shooting through my window allows me to get very close without disturbing these little critters. About 10 lbs of bird seed every week doesn’t hurt either.

    Another splendid capture…

  • Thank you Carol. These sparrows tend to stay in the bush so I was lucky to capture this one out in the open.

Sometimes its the ‘plainest’ or most common bird that has a great song…I like the good old ‘butcher birds’singing!! *-)

  • That holds true here also Deb. These little guys tend to spend most of their time deep in the bush and out of camera range but their songs resinate throughout my yard.
