On the weekend of September 5th I took part in a Civil War reenactment at Fort Stevens, Oregon. This is a self portrait of me and my 1860s period duds and camp. My job was to gather information (photographicly) on the Confederate troop strengths and equipment. During the Civil War there were a number of photographers that acted as spys for both the Union and Confederate armies.

My photographs are not always technically correct, I tend to break the rules but I do that knowing what the rules are and having a reason to do so. My photographic images are what and how I see the world around me in my minds eye—they are who I am.

Sounds lots of fun Bryan…you look fantastic!! Great image! *-)

  • I had a blast!!! Although being totally immersed in living in the 1860’s, and without bathing, on the 3rd day we all smelled somewhat ripe. I don’t even want to wonder what they smelled like after a month or so of not bathing!
