Head stone of my great great grandfather Captain Oliver Chas Ludlow, Company G of the 122 United States Colored Infantry of Kentucky.
war, union, memorial, battle, military, colored, infantry, civilwar
My photographs are not always technically correct, I tend to break the rules but I do that knowing what the rules are and having a reason to do so. My photographic images are what and how I see the world around me in my minds eye—they are who I am.
Wow. What a treasure Paul.
Thanks for the comments Philip and yes I agree.

A touching, thoughtful, and wonderful photo.
Thanks Courier. After the war Chas homesteaded here in Washington and the house he built is still standing (only now its a restaurant). Before my great aunt died at the age of 93 we took her out there and she gave us and the new owners a great history lesson about Chas, his life and his history in Washington. She was born in the house but had not seen it in over 70 years.
Nice work! I do a lot of Civil War Cemetery research down here in Tennessee and truly enjoy seeing descendants take such care of a gravesite.John
Thanks Cleburnus. I’ve found out a little about the 122 US C INF of Kentucky but need to do a lot more research. I found out about some of the activities of the unit and know about the officers all being white while the rest of the unit was black. Do you know of any good research sites in regards to the colored units in the Civil War?
I researched some colored regiments last year. I’ll dig up my sites list if I can find it. If they fought in Tennessee I can help you a lot.
