It happened again! My old computer has finally given up the ghost and the dredded blue screen is all I can see. But this time I have all my files backed up (in two separate places) so I haven’t lost any of my images. I am planning on switching from pc to a mac operating system plus up-grading from CS-2 to CS-4 so I get to learn how to work a computer and Photoshop all over again. With all this going on I will be out of commission (as far as photo processing goes) for a while but I can still look at everyone’s wonderful works of art on my wife’s computer. Please send me your techno vibes—I’ll really need them as I go through the process of changing over!
Does anyone use a photo-stitching program on their mac operating system that they like? The program I have been using does not make a version compatible with the mac system.
Wish me luck—I need it when it comes to computers!!!

My Mac is too old for any of the new stitching programs but you will find many wonderful, helpful sites for your new Mac along with great folks who offer helpful advice.

Lots of luck Bryan. Look at this experience as a new chapter in your book. I doubt that you will be sorry for both your upgrades.
Look forward to seeing you here again soon.
Take care and keep well.

I feel your pain! I have had several non-backed up hard-drive and computer crashes. I am working on an old rebuilt compaq laptop with a non-working screen plugged into an old Compaq MV540 monitor, and I do not have photoshop, but have learned to make PhotoImpact Pro work for me. I thank the good Lord everyday they are still working and pray everyday for continued availability of these tools. One day I hope to have the money to go Mac and upgrade to CS3 or 4 myself.
From what I here about Mac from friends that have them, they never looked back or missed their PC’s. I know that once you get set-up and start getting comfortable in your new Mac environment, you will be so happy. Most colleges that have graphic design programs push for their students to get a Mac. I wonder if you could pick up a course at a community college to get some good pointers on software and such. Sometimes you can audit these classes without being asigned a grade. I hope to do this some day myself. Seems like a great place for networking, because the teachers and young students keep with what is going on in technology.
Best of luck, Bryan. Your crash may be a blessing in disguise!

Best of luck, Bryan. This is a case where your back-ups come handy, isn’t it?
I know Lightroom works perfectly on both PC and Mac, but I wouldn’t know about PS.
Take it easy, we’ll be here when you get back. See you.

The excitement of waiting for a new toy.
I don’t have one, but from all reports, Macs are great.
I stitch panos together in CS3. CS4 would have the same tool. I find it works quite well.
Looking forward to your new work.
