Roman Amphitheatre, Cartagena, Spain
2 of my own images blended in PS elements using layers in various modes. Nikon d300 for the Amphitheatre & Canon Powershot s90 for stonework from the old harbour in Naples.
The theatre is an impressive achievement of the Romans and was carved into the hill side rock near the port. It has been dated to approximately 1 AD. It was excavated to generate the tiered bowl of an amphitheatre which would have held 6000 people. It was destroyed by a fire and its remains were built over & it was not re-discovered until the 1980’s, but since then it has been preserved and remains part of Catagenas heritage.
