Auberge Ravoux, The simple inn in the village of Auver-sur-Oise, where Vincent van Gogh spent the last 70 days of his life, has recently been restored. La maison de van Gogh is now one of the most moving museums in the Paris region.
I was struck by the bare simplicity of the room, and was lucky that most of the other visitors moved on quickly leaving me to my thoughts.
His last reported words according to his brother were “La tristesse durera toujours” (the sadness will last forever).
Here I have attempted to bring a painterly feel to the original image see here by layering with my own textures & applying paint daubs & poster edge in PS Elements.
Thanks to everyone who visits & comments on my work
Due to time constraints I’ve decided that I’ll not spend time just saying individual thanks when someone comments on my work. Far better I feel to spend time looking at their portfolio & enjoying & commenting on their work, by way of thanks for visting & commenting on my work.
Of course I’ll say thank you to our hardworking hosts when featured, and sometimes you just have to answer a question, but apart from that I’m in silent mode.
