guiding the ship’s sail in
fog filled anthems
rose in drifts
one voice
amid the din
the chosen
heard the call
summoning the child
of gentle eyes
and stories
out of the wild
older than life
the tall grass dancer
stands earthened faced
tasting the wind and sky
in bone and ash
a spear held high
casting his return
what’s given can’t be taken
nor what’s taken kept
the journey of the bloodline
flows back into the first
where ancient pools lie waiting
for all who share the thirst
