usurping scraps of pride
hung in glory

I see this as a very deep social commentation. I read this article in the paper today that showed visually the regions in the US that suffer the most casualities due to the Iraq war. I see unsurping scraps of pride being the loss of apt recognition for those who are sacrificed in someone elses agenda. Maybe I am wrong but I see this as a very sad poem about loss, I hope you are well my friend.

this has a despairing quality to it. as if one has been let down or deceived. I hear a sense of anger, but an anger that is ready to fight and not give up… always waiting for the light and spirit, but not expecting too much because of being disappointed and hurt before.
this could all be my own state of mind, but how wonderfully creative you are, butch, to bring out such feelings from your poetic, magical and mysterious words.
