sand and smoke

tattered sails
and ferris wheels
they shot horses on the beach
unafraid of their freightened screams
lovers kissed among the flames
as feral dogs eased
the silence of the night
bloodied men
sang songs of home
one found redemption
in a dream

powerful imagery, i wonder if i did a painting for these words what it would be like, I am thinking of the feral dogs and the fires burning, the hisses mingling with the screams. The horses being shot amongst the savagery frighten me as do the ones that are kissing their last kiss and the person who just closed his eyes to it all….wow B, FAB :)

  • actually marina.. (speaking of movies).. these words were actually inspired by one… so i’d love to see the imagery you would do for this…… go for it… and thank you…………..b

I’m speechless too and not a little terrified by the implied violence behind the violence of these images. And yet… there is a note of hope there at the end dearest Butch, that saves the piece from hopelessness – one found redemption in a dream. Visceral and very visual images in a powerful piece of writing.

  • my beautiful sweet friend.. you should recognize this as we just talked about it the other day….. the power in seeing it inspired these words…….. don’t be terrified… i’m just interpreting what i saw…..love you………..b

I’m not “personally” terrified for you or for myself, dear heart – and yes, we did speak of this the other day – but it’s still so visceral isn’t it? You – I adore – you’re the most insightful man I know!

  • yes… can’t seem to shake it… for all the sadness and violence it was still a beautifully created moment……. so i guess that is a scarey thought………. love you………b
