A New Spring

Time to take stock of the year that is past
Remembering both good and the bad
Reflecting on all that has certainly gone
The things that are lost we once had

Kindnesses done are now fading
Unless we remember them well
The harm that we caused and have suffered
Can still linger and grow as we tell

Harbour not rancour or feelings of ire
These are not the thoughts for New Year
From the depths of this winter, still cold and so wet
Take heart that New Spring is near
