Postponing Ferrous Heaven

It’s true that both our cars are old
And maybe past their prime
But if it be that truth be told
Maybe they’ve had their time

But still they soldier on for us
With wheezes and with cough
And generally without a fuss
Their all is just enough

An example of the life they lead
Was with us yesterday
No kangaroo I had to plead
As we jumped upon our way

So it was off to mighty Mark
The wizard of the motor
Whose secret art comes from the dark
And never seems to falter

On Thursday next it will be fixed
In time to go away
But with fortunes ever mixed
I wonder what we’ll pay
