When I was a child, the popular fabrics for sofas, chairs, sofa pillows and drapes was brocade. The more luxurious it looked, the better. Some even went to the dark side… gaudy. I loved to run my fingers over the textures of it. Some was silky smooth between the designs. I liked them the best. I would pretend the were huge maps of mountains and seas. Yes, I had a very active imagination. I don’t see many of these fabrics used nowadays. They have gone to softer, velvety fabrics instead, but that is another story for later. :o)
