Come Over and Sit Down a While! by

I remember as a kid when neighbors were almost like extended family. You could chat over the fence and if you both had time you could sit and have some iced tea or coffee. Now, I have to honestly say, while I know most of my neighbors, I know their first name and I would not invite them in, nor they me. It seems we have gotten so security concerned, we don’t go the extra step. Most of the time, I don’t have the time. I work 8-12 hours a day and then come home and work on my art for a few hours. There are times when I kind of miss those gentler days though. The human contact other than family or coworkers. I’ve heard others state the same thing over the last few years as well. Something to think about. :o)

Created on my iPad and in ArtRage with completion of work in Photoshop. This piece took me about 5 hours to complete from sketch to the last digital brush stroke. :o)

This is splendid! And while I miss certain things about my former employment, I do not miss the frantic hectic pace that is a killer. All things have slowed down here and kind of simplified, good thing I am alone to be the only one to adapt to a much more frugal lifestyle.

  • In some ways, I think I would enjoy that slowing down. And I’ve gotten it in my new job. I can enjoy things more and get better rest. I’m not so sure I would do well unemployed. I would fret too much about the things I could no longer take care of. I suppose that too passes when you figure out what can be handled and done without. Hugs to you. :o)

I like the “come over and sit awhile” era. I sometimes I wish I lived in a more simpler time, when everyone knew their neighbor and the town was all a family in their own right. We have moved forward with all our technology but at times I think we really regressed in our social world. Wonderful work, Bunny! :)

  • I agree completely about the social regression. It is something I think will eventually bite us in the heinie. Thank you Robert. :o)

I remember those days well. Nor do I miss the crazy workplace I used to manage.
When I had to terminate; I was lucky that I’d had everything I might’ve wanted for being retired…One thing I hadn’t counted on was THE crazies in the U.S. Government!

  • LOL! We never count on the crazies, do we? Thank you Saz. :o)

I think I might, what drink do you want me to bring? A lovely concept here, I love this, something the gardener in me really loves.

    Gabe :) xx

  • Well, if you come in the morning or early afternoon, iced tea. After 5 PM, frozen margaritas. ;o) Thank you Gabe. :o)

Looks like a wonderful place to sit and relax with a good book. Stunning work Bunny

  • Thank you Andrea. I dream of having a place like this, but I never sit still long enough to enjoy it. :o)

Beautiful work Bunny. And yes it’s sad, i tell my kids what things were like when i was a kid, and they look at me sort of freaky.

  • Yes, I get a lot of that too. They had a little bit of it as kids since we were in a decent neighborhood while growing up. Its hard to find good places like that now. Thank you Christine. :o)

So beautifully done – such an inviting image evoking all sorts of memories – and yes, you are right, it seems that the world over, we work harder, longer and with so much more stress that a few decades ago – there sometimes isn’t much time left for life itself.

  • I agree with what you said. We have to take that time out sometimes. Thank you so much for stopping by. :o)
