When I look at this sculpture, I see many things. Recoil could be a woman just waking up from a nap. It could be a reaction of fear before a blow from another strikes. It could be the reaction to sun too bright. I would like to think it is the first or the last of these thoughts. The simple lighting and shading were what drew this image to me most.

Larry Davis was kind enough to let me use his wonderful image of this sculpture. I loved the lighting and the geometries of the woman and just wanted to have a hand at it. I hope you enjoy. :o)

Created from a photograph, sketched, and painted in Photoshop. I think this may be a work in progress yet since I’m still not quite happy with the sides. A little more thinking. :o) There were 4 layers in this piece and this took about 3 hours to complete.

Great colouring and painting that you did for this sculpture. It has kind of a dreamy mood, with smoke arising from the ground, as in the birth of now only the world but this woman. :)

  • Wow! Thank you. I appreciate your comment very much. :o)
