The Patina of the Past by Bunny Clarke

This lovely beauty was one of the older carousel horses I took in Griffith Park. These horses are so well carved with very little in the way of restoration. I love the eyes on these. They make the horses look so alive.

Taken at Griffith Park, Los Angeles, CA, USA with a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS and HDR.

Are the eyes painted, or glass? look like doe’s eyes…lashes and all.

  • They are glass eyes, which I think make them so much prettier than most. :o)

wow, Bunny that is a great shot and a good story – you so right the mastership of the carving is amazing – somebody must have loved, what they were doing …to make them look so alive
Is the carousel still working, omg I bet the ‘little’ onces would go crazy on seeing something like that :D

  • Yes, this is still running. This carousel is one that Walt Disney based his Fanatasia on when his girls were little. :o) Thank you Iwona.
