Whenever I have visited zoos or people who have Marguays or Ocelots, the one thing that seems to be common is the cats do not seem to lose their identity of what they are. A wild animal meant to be free. They still seem to hate the barriers, the person who feeds them. They never seem to really like any of their caretakers. There may be some that do, but I haven’t seen them. I love their seeming fragile beauty. There is nothing fragile about them though. They are tough and independent little cats. They will always be wild at heart. :o)
This was created from a sketch and painted in Photoshop. I used my natural media brushes. There were 7 layers in the creation of this work and took 10 hours to complete off and on. Remind me not to do a spotted cat again. ;o)

I love this wild cat’s soulful gaze, the shadow pn part of the face. Your observations about them in captivity are quite interesting. :)
Thank you dear friend. I saw a bit of defiance in this stare/gaze. I think that is what made me study them closer and draw on what I have observed over the years. :o)
I’m starting to make zzzzzzzzzzzz’s in my head, but I had to jump to this last one when I was the thumbnail…..what incredible eyes! They pierce like lasers. Wonderful work again, Bunny!
Thank you hon. I’m glad you popped in. I have to call and talk to you to see what’s going on. :o) Hugs to you.
I once did a project involving painting leopard spots, so I had to research and study what shapes and colors to use, and how they vary, it was a fine lesson in the beauty of the spotted cats, particularly Ocelots. Freedom is best.
Yes it is. It makes me wonder what it is about human nature that wants to possess what wants to be free. That includes us as well.
