Peaches is a sweet little Cockatoo who has the prettiest of colors and personality. I got to spend some time with her and her owner not too long ago so I could complete some sketches for this image. Peaches was a rescue animal who had been deserted in an apartment by her previous owners. She is about 20 years old according to the vet. She was badly dehydrated when they found her and just cuddled with the rescuers and kept saying over and over, “I love you!” It was heartbreaking for everyone at the time. All of her feathers were falling out and she was very thin. As you can see, with love and care, she is healthy and beautiful once again.

Created in Photoshop using natural media brushes and impressionistic style. This had 6 layers and took about 5 hours to complete.

Oh dear, the story made me feel weepy -perhaps someone died and left her. So glad to see your lovely painting of her recovery-the happy ending to the story

  • I had to tell her story. Her owner moved and couldn’t take her to the new home. That is the saddest part. I’m just glad she has a good home now. :o)
