I thought I would take you back to the original sighting of the young bobcat male I showed you the closeup of. His markings were darker than you usually see, but they were really very lovely. On his hind haunches, he had distinct striping. This was taken on our weekend walk.
San Joaquin Wildlife Refuge, Irvine, CA, USA
If you would like to see the movie my honey took of this lovely creature, you can view it at:
What a beautiful creature how luck you are to see him so close, very nice work Bunny
I feel very fortunate. I have only seen one bobcat there and that was almost two years ago exactly. I had to use a telephoto to even tell what it was, that was how far away it was. To have this fellow, just saunter up, was such a treat.
How exciting with that close encounter! Great job on capturing the moving animal! Nice movie, too.
Thank you Eivor. This is the first time I have ever had a close encounter like this. We were all pretty relaxed as you could see in the movie. He took his time and so did we. :o)
I have seen one of these, from the highway near a large wooded area not very far from my house. Also recently saw a fox retreating to a large pampas grass in a mansion’s front garden, it’s surprising how much wildlife one can see in the urban areas here. The Red Tailed hawks are a favorite of mine.
The foxes are usually too fast for me to get a picture of. We see a lot of Red Tails here, but being an opportunistic photographer, we go where we have found wildlife before. This particular refuge is in a wildlife corridor where the animals range many miles from the mountains to down by the coastal areas. There was a mountain lion sighted there. I don’t think we would have stuck around for those pix… well, maybe one. ;o) I would not want to stay for lunch.
