Temple City

We had been traipsing around the galaxy in hunt of the legendary city known as Temple City. It is said the civilization there depended greatly on their priests to run the city and their government. From our past history, we know how that can end.

As we walked througout the many levels of the city, there was cinder scattered all over. Having dual suns made the lighting a bit eerie at times. There was no wildlife in the air nor the ocean. We found no life in the city. The temples were gorgeous, but there was a feeling of sadness all throughout the area. We left with the feeling of great loss. And no, we did no treasure hunting. :o)

Created in Incendia with postwork done in Photoshop for Hue and some clean up with smudging and painting that never seemed to go away from the 6 day render. Some of the forms just seem to work out that way. Thank goodness for Photoshop. :o)

Its a lovely image. However I would never have the patience to wait all that time to render something. I like Xenodream but have never ventured much further than 2 or 3 holons.

  • Bunny Clarke replied 14 days ago

I have learned great patience from these renders. It took me a while to get there, but when I saw what I was getting, I am more willing to wait now. I do work with XenoDream from time to time, but it is so complex I have to struggle with it. I love the stuff from it though.

A city of wonders and mystery! I love the colours and want to visit!

And I thought that my 38 hours renders were long…LOL I agree though, it’s worth it. :)

  • Bunny Clarke replied 14 days ago

Since the new plugins came out for Apophysis, I started seeing render times get longer. They sometimes rival Incendia for the quality of image I want. The things we do for art. :o)

  • Scott Bricker

cool image Bunny! is this 1.3?
are you aware of the use of ‘zoom’ and ‘scale’ controls to reduce render times while maintaining quality? the tradeoff is the preview quality…can reduce a 12hr. render to 1/2 hr or so…I routinely do 9000×7200pixel renders in 20min or so…

  • Bunny Clarke replied 14 days ago

LOL Yes I know in Apo you can do that. It’s just that some of the plugins require more time to render and I render at a fairly high quality (just my pickiness) so they take a while. This is 1.3 HR of Incendia. :o)

  • Scott Bricker

    Scott Bricker 14 days ago

    in Apo, that is….

have done series of test images with quality settings from 2000 to 50,000, seems to make little difference in large images…mostly in small size…no point in doing small images unless large prints aren’t wanted…
High quality is worth being picky for!
what quality settings do you usually use?

  • Bunny Clarke replied 14 days ago

I use 2000 for the quality 4 for sampling and the size is usually 3800×2400. Some of the ones using a couple of the more complex plugins took 3 days to render. My machine is a bit older, but not that bad. A Pentium 4 with a decent processor. Next machine will be a quad core for sure. :o)

Incendia is the real time hog! Did one render that took over two weeks straight (on a dual core laptop), and was still cooking until power line work stopped that!
Gotta download 1.3, thought Aexion was gonna send them or inform when available…heheheh, so much for being patient!

  • Bunny Clarke replied 14 days ago

I wrote and asked if the final version was ready. He didn’t think there were enough changes, but I wanted it anyway. :o) One suggestion I make for working with this program is stopping and saving the buffers frequently… about every 8 hours or so. I do that so if I have a power loss or something happen, I can recover with minimal loss of work. :o)

  • Scott Bricker

    Scott Bricker 14 days ago

yup, I learned to do that when rendering that one…lost it at 80hrs. the first time, 50 hrs. the second, and twice at 30hrs….learned to save periodically…!
Looks like 1.3 has more base shapes….

  • Bunny Clarke replied 14 days ago

More Base shapes and more texture possibilities. He has a place on wikiplaces with tuts and info too.

OMG! How in the world do you do this? It’s fascinating work Bunny! :)

  • Bunny Clarke replied 13 days ago

Incendia is a fascinating little program that allows me to choose the shapes, colors, textures and create dreams from the fractals. :o) That is the best I can explain. :o)

Wow, what a spectacular place! It looks in very good condition for a deserted city; is it possible that the inhabitants were just shy? ;-) It’s extraordinary, 6 days of rendering – just like Genesis! I admire your patience and talent.

  • Bunny Clarke replied 13 days ago

Thank you so much. The fact there were cinders everywhere, led me to believe the inhabitants left in a hurry. It was amazingly intact. A beautiful site/sight. ;o)

Truly magnificent. I always love a little fantasy, and you have certainly mastered this wonderfully. I admire your skill and your patience. I guess it is true, “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well!” Bravo, my friend :)

  • Bunny Clarke replied 9 days ago

The flip side is, “nobody can waste time like I do”. ;o) Not really. I have never considered any art work a waste of time, even if it didn’t turn out the way I liked. I learned something from the experience. Thank you very much for your sweet comment.

A spectacular capture of this historic city. It is sad that life no longer exists there. I do think you might consider a future trip though… to investigate the amazing architecture and possible secrets left by the people that once dweled there. Amazing presentation~
