On the Path

We have several places we like to walk or hike at. This particular refuge is home to a family of bobcats. This young male came sauntering down the path towards us without any concern. We moved out of his path and he continued on without stopping.

Nice shot, Bunny! And I’ll tell you, the wild critters there seem to be much tamer than the wild critters around here…...if anyone were to meet a bobcat around here (and they have, on occasion, or something like it), then it wouldn’t go half so well….the only cats around here that are safe are the housecats….....

  • Bunny Clarke replied

It is not so much that they are tame, this fellow was just relaxed. There are a lot of people on the weekends at the sanctuary, since its a huge Audobon site. Respect is the key with these fellows. We made sure he didn’t feel challenged or blocked from where he was sauntering off to. If he had shown any aggression, I can guarantee, the pictures we got, would not have been taken. We got a movie too. You can see it at my website: bunnyclarke.my-fractals.com

I am jealous. Not many see these guys in the wild, less get a chance to shoot them and less again get time enough for a close up. Well taken.—Steve
