Gees’ you got a great eye for color. I envy your freedom and expressiveness in your painting technique. I could never do that. I’m more tight. What’s Queentowns attitude towards artists? Are the locals open – minded?

cheers! i just let the paint flow and add a bit of humour where i can, i just love animals and there rituals and how human and animals are really quite similar.
Queenstowns attitude is pretty open minded alot better now then say 10 – 20 years ago, there’s more cultural diversity and more artists living here because of all the mountains and the beauty of the place. There are some old lady types that have told me too my face that my work is shit and that a three year old could do better but i just try to shrug those types off and put them down to lack of travel and life experience to ever understand creativity and originality. But on a whole people like my work here and locals have bought my originals so that always outways the idiots.

That’s good more artists are living there, and I can understand the wilderness attracts artists in the first place. We have similar spots in Victoria that attract artists. Belgrave, Warburton , Marysville, all beautiful places and nestling amongst the spectacular forests and scenery of the Great Dividing Range. But I can’t fathom how anyone could confront you and say that about your work. They sound very bitter and naive. Best to ignore them – they’re not worth the trouble.
