Dinefwr Park-The Lodge in snow-01 – A snow scene showing the entrance lodge and gates to the stunning Parc Dinefwr Park and Castle National Trust Property near Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, West Wales with its twin graceful weeping willow trees. The ancient Welsh castle in its grounds, once the seat of a Welsh King (Howell Dda or ‘Howell the Good’) is one of the most important in the nation’s history; both as a unifying force within Wales and as a defence against the English invaders.
Dinefwr Castle and Park, together with the National Trust Property of Newton House, stands in the internationally acclaimed Towy Valley, arguably one of Britain’s most beautiful valleys and famed for its fine trout and salmon fishing. This park stands just outside the Brecon Beacon National Park and also includes the remnants of two Roman forts from the Iron Age period. Parc Dinefwr Park and Castle are not only well known tourist attractions, open to visitors almost all year round, but is within easy walking distance of my home and has some of the oldest and most inspiring trees still existing in Wales.
