This ancient Welsh castle, once the seat of a Welsh King (Howell Dda – Howell the Good) is one of the most important in the nation’s history; both as a unifying force within Wales and as a defence against the English invaders.
Dinefwr Castle stands in the internationally acclaimed Towy Valley, arguably one of Britain’s most beautiful valleys, just outside the Brecon Beacon National Park. This park and castle are not only well known tourist attractions, open to visitors almost all year round, but within easy walking distance of my home. This park has a reputation for having some of the oldest trees still existing in Wales and has, for all these reasons, become a great inspiration for a lot of my work.
