This variety of my ethnic prints is different in that this pattern has an edge.
One very important aspect of these ‘edged’ patterns is that they are almost but not quite symmetrical. This is important, to me at least, because I am trying to represent the nature of ‘Nature’ itself where so many things appear quite symmetrical at first glance but on further investigation are anything but.
Take for example the human face; we are all so used to seeing them that we forget how unsymmetrical they are, the same could be said of a tall tree, indeed anything natural. If you can, cast aside any Western ideals of artificial symmetry (perhaps originally so attractive just because it displayed our power over nature) and revel, instead, in similarity.

and find the Search box (click on the Cornucopia button) and paste CEM-Black-White-007 into it to see my own face displayed as perfectly symmetrical – it’s not pretty!
