This abstract image was recorded in the forests of south west Western Australia after the recent bushfires.

The tree trunks are blackened with ash and the ground is a deep ochre colour with all plants burnt away from the topsoil. The gold is the late afternoon sunlight. These colours; Black, Gold and Ochre are the colours of the Ozzie outback and the colours of the Austraian Aboriginal flag.

The green patches are new growth on the trees transforming them into stunningly beautiful new life, energy and regrowth.

    Nice one Bob!! cheers, Louise

  • Thanks Louise.

You know that you are the person who inspired me to try this approach. I am currently on a wonderous journey as I explore what has always attracted me – colour and soft shapes. I am trying to de-emphasise the detail and substance which have never held my attention. (although I used to try and record such details in my images)

    Beautiful!
I love the softness of it. Without the detail it holds my attention longer.

I love this photo…very interesting and painterly. In fact, I want to paint this NOW. No worries though, if I do, I’ll credit you for the inspiration.
