The new Kings Avenue Overpass replaces the notorious “Russell Roundabout”, one of Canberra’s busiest intersections (>70,000 vehicles per day) being noted for the city’s highest traffic accident rate and one of the worst bottlenecks. The intersection is located at the crossing of two major roads: one linking the city centre to the airport and the other linking the North and South sides of the city as well as various Federal Government departments/offices.
