Cathleen, you have a true gift for taking an everyday scene, that to many, would be just a family photo….and making it into a story, a whole host of feelings, emotions, memories and meaning…..not to mention a touch of humour and magic. You are a legend!

Hi Karl, not at all. When this lovely girl came to stay with us she spotted Once Were Warriors with our dvds and promptly told me how cool she thought Jake the Muss was. “He’s a good fighter aye”. Umm. I changed the subject to which son did she think was the hottest.

Hi Blamo, no things don’t change, in fact I would have been up there too if it wasn’t such a good photo opportunity.
Cathleen Taraw... in reply to Wendy Slee KMA’s comment, 4 months ago
Thank you Wendy, that is just the highest compliment because I see such possiblity in the smallest, quietest, messiest moments and try my best to record how I see it.

I love the spontaneity of this image. Not to forget the wonderful colour and composition.
Cathleen Taraw... in reply to Adrian Rachele’s comment, 4 months ago
You hit the nail on the head for how I feel about this. My favourite shots are usually the no preparation ones, usually out of whack and need some editing but I’d rather get the moment I see than lose it trying to focus, stand in the right place, where’s the sun, am I holding my tongue right…
Barbara Sparhawk, 4 months ago
I love all the busyness here. I also love the purity of the right side, the girl and car, all by itself.
As others have said, it’s a day, a family, a shot of life at the train snation, that you do so well. And just at the minute all the range of emotions are setting in on their faces.

Thank you Barbara, another moment in my life that I’ll enjoy looking back on.
Cathleen Taraw... in reply to Paul Vanzella’s comment, 4 months ago
Thanks Paul, I’m enjoying playing with this style at the moment and what better to trial it on but my much-loved family. They’ll thank me for it when they’re older, I know lol.
Cathleen Taraw... in reply to elbambino’s comment, 4 months ago
Thanks Elbambino, that’s exactly what i was going for – a candid street shot, not a family shot. But I am glad it’s them, they look cool :)
Caz Wood, 4 months ago
Cathleen, I like the work you do with your ‘people’ shots. They’re so natural and have a real innocence and a purity about them. You must also be a ‘thinker’...
Cathleen Taraw... in reply to Caz Wood’s comment, 4 months ago
Oww, this is even better , thank you Caz.
Caz Wood, 4 months ago
It’s my pleasure, Cathleen. You deserve the compliment!
