Dual Cones on the same Tree

This unusual type of tree was found growing beside a pond and wet lands. It had small, regular type ‘pinecones’ and then also had seed pods similar to some kinds of bushes.

    thank you, you can see that the sun was low in the sky ~ brings out the golden tones.
    Maybe this is like an evolutionary stage between trees as we know them and when they grow gills? Na, I guess not. Only a politician could try to pass off that kind of crap :-).

    Interesting photo! The catkins (long blossoms) look like this might be a hazelnut bush, but I’ve never seen the “female” cones or blooms before so I’m not sure. It might just be something similar looking and not related. Very nice to see!
