Fossilised desert dunes in Namib desertby Viv King
This is a painting of fossilised dunes in the Namib Desert camp near Sossuslvlei, Namibia. The dunes are an amazing reddish-orange colour and we took a walk as the sun was setting behind them. I did a painting in my studio with that sunset in mind. The fact that the Namib is the oldest desert in the world heightened the sense of awe and wonder I felt while there.
Thanks- it was difficult to get interest with such a predominantly uniform colour, but I was quite pleased with the final result especially when it won an award at a juried exhibition!
