Let the games begin!
This is a tongue-in-cheek painting of the Greenpoint stadium in Cape Town. There was a lot of controversy around the building of this stadium, I tried to capture the joy of the people who would be watching the games, yet there was some debate about the venue- various environmentalists contested the venue, saying that it was not ec0-friendly. I think Nature will triumph in the end- that is why I painted a laughing dolphin looking on!

Carmen Cilliers
This is fantastic Viv and really you should have postcards printed and put in all the shops around Cape Town because anyone that knows the place will appreciate this, and so will the tourists. I love this!
Viv King replied
Hi Carmen- that is such a wonderful idea- thank you so much. Any ideas how I could do this?
Dion Futerman
Ditto re Carmen’s comment – love this one – and really enjoy the inclusion of the infamous highway to nowhere … the hot-air balloon … a subtle comment on all the hot-air having taken place over the construction of the stadium ??? Great picture.
Viv King replied
Hi Dion- you are spot on with that observation. I am glad you picked up the reference to the hot air. A bit cheeky maybe but true??!
Dani Dreyer

CONGRATULATIONS! Again!
Viv King replied
Wow – I can’t believe it! This is the best news I’ve had all month- especially after my house was flooded recently and I haven’t been doing much art…
Susan van Zyl
So sorry to hear about the flooding! It is high time for good tidings and good fortune for you my friend! Sending virtual good wishes and good luck your way!
Viv King
Ha Ha! I am laughing at the “Good tidings” bit- esp as you can still see the tide marks around our property! Anyway we are still drying up and as a result my painting has almost dried up completely, but until the workers are out of my space I will not be doing much work, so forgive the lack of input! Hope you are well/xx

Congratulations Viv! Thanks for your hard work & your dedication!
Viv King
Thank you so much Mariaan- this has made my year so far which has not been that great what with floods and burglaries etc. So things are looking up at last and winning this challenge makes things seem so much rosier. Thank you again for all the support you have given me and the wonderful positive input.
