Today, I pondered the difference that one life can make. And I thought of those who have been most significant in my own life: people who have risked being misunderstood in order to speak kindness even in the midst of raging storms. Unfortunately, people often discount the importance that a single kind or encouraging word can make. Yet, it is just such words that change a life, revolutionize a world. Never underestimate your unique ability to light this world. Thank you for lighting mine!

“In the same way, let your light shine…” ~ Matthew 5:16

“The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it,” ~John 1:5

This has a dramatic transformation from the dark stormy sky to the glorious light of the land. When I saw it, I immediately thought of I Peter 2:9. A very beautiful painting from a beautiful lady. Don’t know if you’ve ever read my artist statement, but it describes you so well….“To me, every work of art gives the viewer a glimpse of the spirit that resides in the heart of the artist that created it." Love & hugs!

  • Yes, Marsha, I suppose it does appear that way. I hadn’t quite thought of it in those terms. Rather, I actually focused on the light shining through the clouds and my thoughts centered on the idea that the sun’s light illuminated everything, including the land/world which obviously encompasses both light and shadows…the good and the ill. The sun is a single entity, and thus, it represented for me the light of one life and what a difference it makes. I love the passage that you thought of! It is, indeed, perfect. Thank you for your beautiful words of encouragement! You can’t imagine what they mean to me… especially coming on the heels of the last several years of my life. Your friendship means the world to me, and I am so grateful and honored to have such a phenomenal mentor like you in my life! Much, much love to you!! xoxox-

If every person has the attitude that “one person cannot make a difference”, then everyone will be proven right. There are a lot of people who have stood out as making a difference to my life, in all sorts of ways. Some I don’t remember their names, some I never got to find out and some are now dear friends… but each of those have been “that one person”.

This is a gorgeous painting by the way :-)

  • Thank you so much, Joanne! It is also always interesting to hear your thoughts! Hope you are well! -
