This past May, I had the opportunity of visiting St. Augustine, Florida—the oldest, city on the continental U.S. It was an absolutely breathtakingly beautiful place where the old walled city mixed with modern life.
Tucked away on a small, cobbled street was a popular restaurant. At the back entrance, I found a lovely bicycle nestled in the leafy green which covered the exterior of the building. I smiled because for many years my own bicycle was my preferred mode of transportation… when I lived in a more rural area and one could take the byways to school and work. It was a glorious way to commute: the wind whistling through my hair, the birds serenading the morning, and sunshine warming my shoulders.
And I knew I had to paint this snapshot because it transported me back to a time which was filled with freedom and joy for me, a time in which I had few cares in the world! I hope that your days offer you moments of such tranquility, freedom and joy!
