i play piano in liquid light

i play piano in liquid light

This image was printed using liquid light.
This is a silver-based sensitizer for applying on any surface, exposing by an enlarger, and processing in conventional chemistry. It is virtually the same emulsion found on ordinary photographic paper, but in a liquid form and can allow the emulsion to be coated on a wide range of surfaces.
Here I have applied the liquid light using a brush to scrap metal and once it was dried exposed it with the enlarger. It was then developed, fixed and washed similar to any photographic paper.
The final piece of scrap metal was then stuck onto painted pine to be displayed.
The image you see before you is then a digital photograph of the displayed piece.

The original photograph used to create this piece can be found here

you are amazing with your techniques, I always wondered how they put photographic images on things like coffee mugs and metal and wood…seems like a lot of work and being around those chemicals, the one thing I hated when I worked with film ages ago….you have a gift, my dear….

  • aglaia b replied

nothing like a good rush from all those chemicals! LOL only kidding!
yes i do get a little lost in these techniques.
nothing different to getting lost with editing techniques really.
    tis the same thing yes?
    thanks so much mychael.
your masturbation series with dee may have to wait for better days.
have you read all this stuff that has been going down today.

Beautiful image aglaia, an instant favourite! I’ll bet the original version of this looks sensational! It’s getting late here, so I’d better not get you all excited by enticing you into a little… Performance Art, for I would only have to leave you lingering, hot with anticipation, for a climax that would, more than likely, never eventuate! Besides, the picture is far too beautiful to soil and stain! lol ;-)

psst… how the hell did ‘you know who’ manage to get out here to view your work when he did!!! what is he, a ferking shape shifter or something??? lmao! ;)-

  • aglaia b replied

tis getting late i know! LOL and i would hate to be left here alone and excited, a little similar to what i did to you back in that thorny garden of mine!

thanks so much for restraining yourself and not getting me all hot and bothered, it would be such a shame to stain this art work. ;-) LOL

pssst, he is very good at jumping out of prickly bushes hey! LOL ;-) xox

yeah, it takes me much time and tedium with the various programs I use, but at least I chose what vapors hit my nostrils, lol
yeah, I suppose if I cropped away her hands, I dunno…I have recently been a victim of the censorship police…I read it..my counter is in my journal as editorial…

  • aglaia b replied

LOL cropped away her hands, well that defeats the whole thing now. does it not!
oh i missed your journal, i’ll have a read. ;-) xox

andreas!!! I thought you were keeping me under control in the george carlin obituary!!! oh… never mind… because it’s dear, sweet aglaia’s bush your playing around in, I’ll make an exception just this once! :-P

  • aglaia b replied

    LMAO, thanks!

  • andreasphoto

    andreasphoto

I just walked by….it’s more some people tend to expose themselves ;-)

  • aglaia b replied

well andreas no one was exposing themselves per say, only an image exposed by an enlarger. LOL ;-)

  • mychaelalchemy

    mychaelalchemy

yeah, it would defeat the point of it, although with her hands there you can’t see what she is doing although I have ones where you can, I would not likely post anyway

  • aglaia b replied

oh you need to talk to jen. she is the master of concealing through techniques such as layering to create amazing art. there is hope for these images yet! mark my words. ;-) xox

  • andreasphoto

    andreasphoto

isn’t it images we play around with all the time?

  • aglaia b replied

amongst other things, yes! ;-) LOL

  • mychaelalchemy

    mychaelalchemy

I could “disguise” it all but then, it’s like the Victorians, do it but hide the scandalization of it…sometimes, concealing does work, as in Jen’s case…but, for my own,
I feel it ruins the intent of the original in some cases….

  • aglaia b replied

    i understand you.
i feel that perhaps you may be able to use your nohow to create something new with the images for now and when we have all moved a little forward in society, you can then post the originals.
lets hope it happens in this lifetime.
it is a very fine line. ;-)

  • mychaelalchemy

    mychaelalchemy

-when we have all moved a little forward in society-
I doubt it, too many people who are offended or in denial…and, no one bands together to get things changed anymore…
I will have to think on it for awhile what to do, it isn’t exactly a life and death matter except the death of my account, maybe….

You’re so innovative. Lets all give you a big hand for doing it the long way round.
    Clap clap clap clap.
I can’t wait for the next one.
~I can see it now, Photo taken by knocking a house over onto the camera and then exposed by the light of a blood-red moon while teetering on a high stool precariously balanced next to a tank with sharks in it. Mounted on the backs of about twenty small dogs and made to run around the city for the day ~

  • aglaia b replied

LOL, you’re insane! i love it and must try that however i may need to purchase an extra long cable release so the house does not squash me, safety first. hehe
thanks so much for your very funny comment. ;-) xox

I have looked at both versions of this image and I do prefer this one. I have always preferred broken to intact, marred to perfect- damaged things have a sweetness that records on film. I believe that is why I will never shoot anything other than silver.

  • aglaia b replied

oh lauren so lovely to see you here!
and yes there is something so special about Ag that nothing can really compare.
I believe that is why I will never shoot anything other than silver.
