Got very lucky with this one as nearly all the dyes were transferred onto the blotting paper. The blotting paper used has a very rough texture and because the skin tones and corset are quite light you can really see the texture of the paper used.

This image was shot on transparency film and the transparency was manipulated further using a Daylab printer and Polaroid pull apart film where the film is pulled apart before a positive can be processed. The dyes remaining on the Polaroid film were then transferred by rolling onto blotting paper. This is a very unique technique as you will never be able to reproduce the same image twice. There will always be a different amount of dye remaining on the film each time you do it making each image different from the last.

An emulsion lift off was also created of this image and can be found here

i like both of them that you’ve put up, but this because the transfer of color (therefore detail) was
more complete seems a stronger piece though the other has its pluses too. both are outstanding aglaia. exquisite work.

Whenever I look at your work I experience a mental showdown between being awed at the technique and being mesmerized by the content. No one ever wins that one because they’re always both perfect. I love this version – the model is both delicate and strong, the textures equally great. I often save looking at your photos like I save dessert for the end of a meal and I’m never disappointed. Beautiful.

  • aglaia b replied

you’re not wrong babe, you of all people should know that with all your amazing work also, we can only try our hardest to scan originals. i only fiddle with the colours if the scan has not done the original justice. they are pretty close. i am now reminded of that trick you played on me days ago with your work here and i giggle once again!
so thank you twice! ;-) xox
