self portrait

My name Aglaia originates from Greek Mythology.
Aglaia being one of The Three Graces and daughter of Zeus.
She was the Goddess of Brilliance.

This self portrait was shot using a pentax K1000 and lLford black and white film and printed using high contrast filters.

    I really cannot tell you how this photo affects me. . . or even to what depth. . .but it is sooooo HAUNTING. The angle creates a voyeur-esque perspective but, the way you are looking away creates a “see me but don’t see me” sort of feeling. The sum of it is that it leaves me feeling like I am viewing a private moment. . . and that I am party to a thought yet unspoken.

    when i look at this self portrait i too also find it a little haunting. to speak truthfully i really think it is me lying in my coffin. then i look at my half cracked smile and think…oh no it’s ok!
