i'm transferred
This image was shot on negative film then cross processed and the transparency was manipulated further using a Daylab printer and Polaroid pull apart film where the film is pulled apart before a positive can be processed. The dyes remaining on the Polaroid film were then transferred by rolling onto blotting paper. This is a very unique technique as you will never be able to reproduce the same image twice. There will always be a different amount of dye remaining on the film each time you do it making each image different from the last.
More works created using this technique can be found here
An emulsion lift off was also created from this image and can be found here

The technique you have used is wonderful but I have to say the image itself is really cool too- I love the colours and facial expression, and the glossy eyes and lips add sparkle. Very vice work.
aglaia b replied
thank you for noticing…this image on film is also very striking.

Love the grainy muted colours and her triangular shaped pupils!

this is amazing work, also very beautiful as well

This is an amazing process and final image. I can only wonder how you discovered it and how hard it must be to get a workable image. The eyes in this are spectacular! They are so intense and piercing. . . and the way the image is rather “ghostly” leave them as the main means of presence and conveyance. As such, they reach right through me.
You are so talented!!
aglaia b replied
thank you so much nicolas
you leave me a beautiful comment as always
i have no talent for prose
like you
so i have collaborated with frumphood, her real name almost like yours
she has written some words for this image in ‘a little lift off’
so take little flight there and see..x

Nice to see a handcrafted photo thats unique (at least the original is)
In reagrd to the image itself I love her lipstick and also the pouty shock of it all – maybe thats what happens when you realise you are being transferred?
Larry Varley
It is good to see such a range of experimental work within your portfolio, refreshing!

Excellent in every level….!!!!

You’ve lost me in the technical details (words are my business, not photos, hehe) but I love the effect. That each shot comes out unique is awesome, they’d be just like people! Particularly like the expression too, almost a sort of thrilled apprehension, like before saying something really profound. (or at least, what one thinks is profound!)
Juilee Pryor
this is stunning …. I love the technique… viva analouge I say…...:)

you know I host a group called analouge + amazing…. the thing is you have to put up eighteen images at once so you end up with a whole page…. and you can have as many pages as you want so long as they are not consecutive….. bit tricky for some… it has to be exactly eighteen or I can let them through as that would spoil someone else’s whole page…. looks like it would suit you to a tee…...
aglaia b replied
unreal thanks babe, i’ve gotta dash now, however, on my return i will do it! ;-) xox
ANALOG or ANALOGUE, i always get that spelling wrong, roar! hehe
