Red Pigface Flower, (Carpobrotus rossii) Cactus

These flowers grow well in coastal areas. The reason these flowers were given this common name was because of the resemblance of the flower to a pigs face. I dont see it.
Grows in full sun. Colours, – all shades of bright red, pink and orange.

    Beautiful shot – but why is it called a pig face flower – it is too pretty to have a name like that

  • Hi Shulie i totally agree with you. They are a beautiful and very bright coloured flower. The reason it was given this common name was that the flower was believed to look like a pigs face.
