At a recent company event at a local hotel (for some reason, I always get tapped to shoot the events) I was walking around looking for something to shoot besides people I work with every day. I saw this sconce on the wall and loved the shapes and the shadows it cast. The color image was a little too yellow, so I converted it to B&W and really liked the effect.

I’ll shoot anything that catches my eye, but I love it when somebody says “I never looked at it that way before” or even just a little “ooooh”. If I can make you stop and say “hmm”, that’s the best. I normally use minimal processing; a little bump in color and/or contrast, maybe a little cropping. But sometimes I just can’t resist the urge to play with an image.
