What is it about pond scum? Why, when I see it, do I feel the need to shoot it? Is it the endless variations in shapes? The colors? The textures?

Maybe it’s just to get people to look at the mundane in a different light. Look at things they would ordinarily overlook. See beauty where they might only see ugly.

Or maybe, it’s just because I think it makes a cool shot. ;>)

I’ll shoot anything that catches my eye, but I love it when somebody says “I never looked at it that way before” or even just a little “ooooh”. If I can make you stop and say “hmm”, that’s the best. I normally use minimal processing; a little bump in color and/or contrast, maybe a little cropping. But sometimes I just can’t resist the urge to play with an image.
