Don’t know why they used 2 ropes, but it sure made for an interesting shot. Cool shadows.

Shot at Pillar Point Harbor, just north of Half Moon Bay, California. If you want to see real, working fishing boats, this is a good place to go. Plus, you can buy the fresh catch right off the boat. This day, dungeness crab was the catch.

I’ll shoot anything that catches my eye, but I love it when somebody says “I never looked at it that way before” or even just a little “ooooh”. If I can make you stop and say “hmm”, that’s the best. I normally use minimal processing; a little bump in color and/or contrast, maybe a little cropping. But sometimes I just can’t resist the urge to play with an image.

    great. looks snakelike.

  • Thanks Teeth. As big as that rope was, if it had been a snake, i would not have been anywhere near as close as I was.

So Far this is My Favorite of your PIllar Point Pics
This Makes Me think of Having Dungeness Straight Off the Boats Down There.
Yumm…..Strangely it wasn’t the crab traps that made me think of it…..

  • Thaks Iris. I just saw this message. I’m not much for crab, but wife and daughter love it so I get some once in a while. I love to go out there in salmon season and buy a couple of nice filets right off the boat. Mmm, grilled salmon, salmon sashimi…
